GROUND WATER & WATER AUDIT

INTRODUCTION

Ground Water and water Audit Department (Formerly Ground Water Department) was established in March, 1971 and is working under the supervision of the Director, with Head Office at State Capital and it has been part of the Minor Irrigation of Water Resource Department.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

Identification of suitable sites for wells mainly
Drinking Water, Irrigation and Industrial purpose.
Coordinate with the sectoral line Departments. – RWS&S Dept., S.C. Corporation, S.T. Corporation, B.C. Corporation, DRDA, DWMA, Water Resources Department, Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, APMIP, Industries etc. This office is backing the down trodden families, small and Marginal farmers in receiving their benefits from the concerned departments under minor irrigation sector.
This Department is taking up drilling of bore wells to the Small and Marginal farmers of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes under SCSP and STSP.
As a part of APWALTA Act implementation, this department is giving technical feasibility for wells and Sand Mining.
Monthly monitoring water levels and collecting water samples twice a year to analyze quality for Irrigation purpose.
Real Time Water level monitoring is being done every hour in 150 Piezometers through Automatic Water Level Recorders (AWLRs) with Telemetry.  Real Time hourly data can be accessed through CM CORE Dash Board

Village wise Groundwater resource estimation for entire District. –Availability, Utilization and balance for future use.
56 villages are notified as Over Exploited Villages (OE) Vide G.O.Ms.No.6, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (RDII) Department, Dated 25-01-2018 wherein, no new bore wells shall be sunk except for drinking water purpose.nking water purpose.
